Throne of Glass Endgame

We did it! We finished Throne of Glass!

And let me tell you, I do have some thoughts. So let’s start with the fluffy parts.

I was really routing for Celaena and Dorian to get together if I’m being honest. The way they kept sassing each other spoke to me and I was really routing for them. Chaol was a close second, but didn’t quite prove himself to me until the very end. Either way, I look forward to the other eligible bachelors I’ve heard about in this series.

But moving on to the rest of the book.

I enjoyed this more than I thought I was going to but look forward to how the series improves as we get deeper into the series. The dedication mentions the ye olde website of my youth, FictionPress, and to be frank, it does read like something I’d have been a fan of while scrolling through the pages. But, to be fair, it did a good job at holding my attention as well as keeping me on my toes for the final duel between Celaena and Cain. I thought some of the characters seemed a bit flat and the lack of background on the other contestants didn’t really give me a reason to care for them and made the ending a bit predictable in terms of who was going to make it to the end of the competition.

As far as the story went, I do really want more of how magic once worked in this world as well as more about Elena and Nehemia. That being said, the story moved rather easily from scene to scene and the passage of time progressed quite naturally (which I find can be a challenge in a lot of fantasy). I came to care for Celaena as well as Dorian and Chaol and I look forward to continuing to care for them.

What are your thoughts for book one? What did you think of the ending? What are your predictions for the next book?
